Sita’s Senior Environment Consultant – Mr. Tan Kim Leong Mr. Tan Kim Leong is a director and senior consultant at Sita Pest Control. He served the Ministry of Environment (MOEnv) loyally and with distinctions from 1967 to 2001 in the following capacity: 1. 1967 to 1975 – as Assistant Public Health Inspector in Hawkers Department 2. 1975 to 1982 – promoted to Public Health Inspector (PHI) and was posted to Central Urban District to look after vector control. Later, he was in charge of sanitation and hygiene at Queenstown constituency. In 1982 he was the PHI (Vector Control) of Western Urban District, ie Kreta Ayer Constituency. 3. 1982 to 1987 – Promoted to Senior PHI and posted to Vector Control & Research Department, MOEnv to assist in developing strategies, planning and implementing policies and vector control programmes. He supervised the Environmental Health Officers in 7 districts. Pest control in the Istana grounds was also his responsibility. Another major project he undertook was to ensure that the conversion of Seletar River into a reservoir did not pose any vector problem, particularly the breeding of Anopheles Sundaicus mosquitoes. 4. 1987 to 1994 – Posted to Western Environmental Health District Office as the Manpower & Logistics Officer. 5. 1994 – He was sent by MOEnv on an 8-week study visit under the WHO Fellowship to learn how vector problems were tackled in Puerto Rico, Florida, New Orleans and Washington DC in USA. Promoted to Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Public Health and posted to Public Education Department, MOEnv. 6. 1998-2000 – Posted as Northern Environmental Health District as the Assistant Commissioner in charge of the district.  7. 2001 – Promoted to Environmental Health Officer Grade II and posted to MOEnv as Senior Manager in charge of Waste Minimisation Department.  8. 2001 – Retired from service from this department. Mr. Tan brings with him a wealth of experience and his advice is sought by Sita’s management and staff on pest management and environmental issues. His knowledge acquired during his 33 years of service with MOEnv makes him a valuable resource to Sita.
